Wins and challenges as busy mom shifts lifestyle
18.05.12
One month until Kona, signifying the half-way point of my CNN Fit Nation journey. What have I accomplished? What do I still need to tackle?
Successes:
1. I’ve gone from sporadic walking on the treadmill to working out six days a week including three days of at least two-hour workouts. I’ve completed my first two 5Ks. I’ve gone from not being able to complete one length of freestyle to being able to breathe every five strokes doing four lengths of freestyle without stopping. Our family swims together three days a week.
2. My journalism students traded junk-food-laden deadline nights for fruit kabobs and salads (mostly).
3. Instead of going home to Buffalo over spring break and enjoying pizza and wings and mom’s chicken paprikash, I joined my sister at the gym for spinning.
4. I’ve lost 15 pounds.
5. I worked out in Central Park with my students.

Fuel Subsidy Report: Gombe State Governor, Dankwambo In N 127.8 billion Fraud!
18.05.12
Commence moves to impeach him in case he refuses to resign.
According to the report, over N2 trillion was expended as fuel subsidy between 2009 and December 2011. The bulk of the blame for the irregularities was put on the Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, as well as on former accountant general of the federation Ibrahim Dankwambo and former chairman of the PPPRA board Ahmadu Ali.
One of the committee’s recommendations was that the power’s currently being wielded by the Petroleum Minister should be reduced. To achieve this, the panel recommended that instead of having only Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke as Petroleum Minister, two Ministers should be appointed to oversee the Ministry. While one would oversee the upstream, the other would be for the downstream.
The committee also recommended that members of the boards and managements of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Agency (PPRA), past and present, who are found wanting, for making unauthorised deductions of hundreds of billions during the period should be prosecuted.

Our Wedding: Jeff Solomon and Kelli Clarke got married at Birmingham's ...
18.05.12
In the beginning: Kelli went to Atlanta to meet her college friend’s fiance in August 2009. Her friend’s fiance was best friends with Jeff, who hosted a gathering at his home that night. Kelli and Jeff greeted each other, but that was the extent of their conversation. They met again in May 2010 at their friends’ wedding. Kelli was a bridesmaid, and Jeff was a groomsman. Jeff was Kelli’s escort. When they took a photo together, Jeff told Kelli, “You know that looks like a great family photo. You are going to be my wife one day,” she said. Then, he introduced her to his mother.
First date: Jeff bragged that he was a good cook and offered to cook for Kelli and their friends. The other couple pulled out at the last minute, leaving Jeff and Kelli alone that night. Kelli and Jeff didn’t mind. Jeff cooked steak, potatoes and asparagus. They enjoyed the dinner and hours of good conversation.
