Brides shop for charity

ROSWELL, Ga. — Bridal gowns can be quite expensive, but at I Do and I'm Done Bridal Boutique on Park Square, they can be bought for much less — and buyers can also support local charities.

Owner Maria Sullivan had the idea for the store in the summer of 2010. Sullivan, who owns the Vintage and Vogue consignment shop nearby, serves on the boards of many charities. She noticed that with the economy squeezing people's finances, receiving donations was becoming more difficult.

"People simply did not have money to give," Sullivan said.

Sullivan decided to solve that problem by giving back.

She allows people to consign their wedding dresses and items like jewelry and when the items sell, people can turn their profits into a charitable donation.

Anyone consigning an item at the store keeps 40 percent of the profit or they can choose to donate it.
