Rami Kashou Talks His New Bridal Line for Bebe, Says Project Runway

Anyway. Kashou’s reasonably priced bridal collection for Bebe (gowns are $950-$2,500, bridesmaid dresses, $150-$300) includes ten gowns in classic, flattering shapes with a few familiar details (a lace-sleeved Sarah Burton look-alike is suspiciously called the ‘Princess’) and very little of the tickety-tak styles that have earned the brand its club-girl reputation over the years. Two trumpet-style gowns in particular feature Rami’s signature draping mastery, while a slinky, sparkly ’40s style column dress offers Old Hollywood for the newly hitched. To compliment his gowns, Rami designed a slew of structural (and re-wearable) bridesmaid dresses which could easily double as less-formal prom wear.

Of course, Bebe Bridal wouldn’t be Bebe without beaucoup de bling-a-ling: The store’s internal bridal boutique is also stocked with some very un-Rami pieces, including bedazzled veils, feathered fascinators, Juicy-esque bachelorette party sweatsuits, and a rhinestone encrusted tee that depressingly reads “Last Night Out.” Click through to check out more images of Bebe’s new Bridal collection (including the new Rami Kashou for Bebe Bridal), available for special order in select Bebe locations as well as Bebe.com.

Bridesmaids, the real deal

Our little group of bridesmaids is made up of girls from different backgrounds, professions and relationship statuses. One is married and a couple are single (if this were a film, they would cue the sad piano music right about now).

We strolled the streets of Satwa looking at materials and colours and checked out possible tailors. We had found the perfect material but, because we needed so much of it, they had to order more. After assuring us it would be the exact same colour we wanted, when the bride went to check it out, it turned out to be a wasted trip. So, we went back again and found a different colour and then it was off to the Satwa tailor who came highly recommended to begin making the dresses. Good thing we got a head start, because there were a few small tweaks here and there that needed to be made. For example, the day we went to pick them up we tried them on first and something didn't seem quite right with mine. I called my friend, the bride, into the fitting room and we both burst into laughter when we realised my sleeves were sewn on backwards. We did not make a scene and since the tailor was already embarrassed at the small error, we asked him politely if he could make the adjustment.

'Fashion Star' Recap: A Flicker of Insight from Jessica Simpson

The first duo up is Ross Bennett and Luciana Scarabello , two designers whom we've seen rise up from the ashes and sell items after preliminary weeks of being in jeopardy.

Scarabello says she's going to venture out of "sexy" and into the world of structured jackets. We see a montage of Scarabello as a young child. She goes on to talk about how one disastrous bowling incident left her traumatized because she couldn't knock down all the pins. She then got serious about bowling. She practiced every day, entered competitions, and became a champ at bowling. We're pretty impressed by this lovely story of passion and commitment, but imagine what she could have accomplished if she substituted bowling for physics? Guess we'll never know.

"I think she can do pieces that are high-quality, structured, sophisticated and sexy, all in one," Jessica Simpson says, and then admits she doesn't like to cover up. This we know.
