Sears' Valentine's Day Survey Reveals Gifting Trends, Romantic Expectations ...
23.02.12
Sears, a quality jeweler since 1888, expanded its assortment by 60 percent this year to feature a wide selection of watches, pendants, and engagement rings.
"A special piece of jewelry, especially on Valentine's Day, is perfect for symbolizing your love in its early stages and reaffirming the feeling long after," said David Tutera, the party and entertaining guru and TV host who has an aspirational line of engagement rings and wedding bands at Sears. "Sears has some exquisite designs that are remarkably value-priced."
Following jewelry, women surveyed said that if they could choose only one gift, they would most want to receive flowers or chocolate (20 percent), perfume (nine percent), the latest technology product (eight percent), lingerie (eight percent), a kitchen or home item (six percent), shoes, handbag or other accessory item (five percent), clothing item (five percent), or a fitness/exercise item (one percent).

Goodwill now sells online
23.02.12
GREENSBORO — An antique chamber pot.
A gold watch from the turn of the century.
A Hillary Clinton nutcracker — patent pending — still in its box.
These are just a few examples of rare, antique or collectible items that occasionally turn up at local Goodwill stores.
And when they do, buyers can bid on them through the online auction site, shopgoodwill.com .
A buyer in Florida recently snatched up a mechanical tyrannosaurus for $400. The large animal moves when activated.
The nutcracker, about the size of a Barbie doll, sold for about $15 to someone locally. It’s exactly the type of item Cathy Lamb loves to come across. She manages the local shopgoodwill website.
Some of the items ready to ship this week include a set of ’N Sync dolls and a pair of Tony Llama cowboy boots.
Know any fans of New Kids on the Block? Dolls bearing the likenesses of the boyband members came up for grabs recently.

Leighton Galleries unveils new auction facility
23.02.12

ALLENDALE, N.J. – On Jan. 19, Leighton Galleries showcased over 400 lots in their new gallery located at 6 Pearl Court in Allendale.
“Long in the making but worth the wait,” said owner Evelyn Leighton. “The gallery was built to our specifications.”
The 5,000-square-foot space includes a gorgeous showroom, a nice big warehouse and a “bullpen” office area “where we make it all happen."
“After being in business for over 20 years, it is nice to finally have our own space,” said Leighton. “Especially in an upscale commercial park with a great location in such a beautiful town. This has been a blessing to us.”
Due to zoning issues, Leighton is not yet permitted to hold the auctions at the site. Therefore, the auctions will continue to be held at their longtime venue, the Knights of Columbus hall in Washington Township. “That was the one caveat,” said Leighton. “Albeit, our Jan. 19 auction was a huge success. We had a strong turnout for our previews in our new gallery, as well as a full auction audience at the Knights hall that is less than 10 minutes away.”
