What's on your iPod Top 25 Most Played list?

So bask a little extra in the humiliation of my iPod Top 25 Most Played list. I didn’t even know this feature existed until Jane McGonigal mentioned it on Twitter a few weeks ago. I immediately rushed to “Playlists” to see my Top 25 most frequently played songs, and was shocked and humbled to find that I’m nowhere near as cool as I think I am.

I expected the list to reflect awesome musical taste: A mix of underappreciated rock and punk bands, local rap, alt-rock gods that will stand the test of time, 1980s heavy metal and some socially acceptable country. Of the five bands I would currently count as my all-time favorites — Husker Du, Steve Earle, San Quinn, Radiohead and Rush — not a single track was represented. Apparently I’ve been spending too much of my spare time listening to “Watch the Throne.”

My list is below. Please let me know what’s on your Top 25 in the comments. In the meantime, I’m glad we can’t do this for movies that we’ve watched over a lifetime. I now have no doubt something like “Sweet Home Alabama” wold crack the Top 3 …

Flashes of the '50s at The Children's Theater's FLASH GORDON

, Flash Gordon (the non-super hero) takes off in a rocket with his pals Dale Arden and Dr. Zarkov to stop an “onrushing planet” from colliding with Earth.  When they arrive, they discover that the planet is being manipulated by an evil ruler named Ming ( Sean Pickell ).  Ming is a very bad emperor, oppressing people left and right.  Ming meets our heroes and takes a liking to the lovely Dale; he wants her for his own.  Ming’s daughter, Princess Aura, feels the same about Flash.  But Flash and Dale are pretty sure they maybe kind of like each other.  (If the interactions sound messy, that’s because they are.)

The first hour of the play was very fast-paced, hard-hitting, and intense.  It was pretty overwhelming to me, as an audience member, and to my five-year-old son, as well.  He was quite scared.  There was just so much going on and it felt as if every character was shouting.  There were plenty of lizards, monsters, weapons, fights, and threats, as well.  I know that there was humor, and clever lines, but they weren’t highlighted, given enough emphasis or time to really hit the audience.  I know, for one, that when Flash, Dale, and Zarkov were in the rocket, they were shooting off potential clever lines left and right, but it was so loud and chaotic, and all my son and I could focus on was the shaking rocket.  It kept us from really listening to the characters or giving us a break from all that intensity.  The show felt heavy.  The last 45 minutes were the most balanced, to me; they were less packed, less intense, less yelling—there was even the occasional smile.

'Hunger Games' scores Easter feast with $33.5M

LOS ANGELES — Film fans are still forking over for "The Hunger Games," which took in $33.5 million to lead the box office for a third-straight weekend.

According to studio estimates Sunday, Lionsgate's "The Hunger Games" raised its domestic total to $302.8 million. It easily out-earned two returning favorites, Universal's "American Pie" sequel "American Reunion" and a 3-D version of the blockbuster "Titanic," released domestically by Paramount and overseas by 20th Century Fox.

Both newcomers opened solidly, though. "American Reunion" pulled in $21.5 million, the lowest haul since the 1999 original but still a decent return for a comedy franchise whose last big-screen chapter came nine years ago.

"Titanic" in 3-D reeled in $17.4 million over the weekend, raising its domestic take to $25.7 million since opening Wednesday. That lifts the lifetime domestic gross of James Cameron's mega-hit to $626.5 million.
