PartyPOP.com recently made headlines by giving out free wedding invitations to any bride and groom in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. PartyPOP.com already features more than two million special event professionals and is expanding every day with vendors listing their businesses on the network. Many of the party planning and special events professionals who have partnered with PartyPOP.com are now able to offer potential clients the same free wedding invitations .

PartyPOP.com features highly accomplished and professional companies with a proven track record of success and customer satisfaction. Some of these companies include Discount Dress Shop, A Butterfly Release Company and A Smokin’ Salamander.

Discount Dress Shop was established in 2009 in La Habra, California. The founders of the company noticed a lack of high quality formal dresses at an affordable price. Through developing dynamic relationships with manufacturers and designers, Discount Dress Shop is now able to provide an array of dresses previously unattainable to many locations & budgets. Discount Dress Shop ships well-designed, sustainable and earth friendly products directly from California and has a customer service department reflective of the high quality dresses they sell.

PHOTO: Tissue Paper Wedding Dress

Christine Sappington said she felt like “ Edward Scissorhands ” while she was making a wedding dress—out of (mostly) recycled tissue paper. The manager of the  Paper Trousseau  in Severna Park created what looks like the real deal in about an hour.

"It's the first time I've ever done a dress," said Sappington, the longtime window display merchandiser.

The dress stands in the shop window as a centerpiece to highlight the fine line of wedding invitations available in the store.

"It's one of the favorite things I've ever done," she said.

The mannequin in the window is wearing ivory tissue, most of which came as packaging with the invitations the store carries.

The creation resembles a "real" wedding dress.

Shop owner Tammi Molavi said passersby stop to gaze at the dress and take photos, too. "It attracts quite a bit of attention," Molavi said.

A lovely handmade bouquet from 2Hands Studios,  coordinated to the beige tissue, sits next to the dress.

April Fool's Festival in Tryon offers tunes, trash and outhouses

“It's a day of wackiness and foolish fun,” said Kathleen Carson, co-chairwoman of the event.

The event begins for its seventh year at 7 p.m. Friday with an April Fool's Jam at Historic Sunnydale, 334 S. Trade St., featuring the Trophy Husbands, a rock/soul band from Lehigh Valley, Pa.

“After the band plays, if you're a musician, you can sign up to play together in 20-minute performances throughout the evening,” Carson said.

Saturday morning at 10:30, the silliness begins in the plaza of the recently restored Historic Tryon Depot. The all-day festival will feature food, drinks, music, games and crafts.

A parade will roll down Trade Street around noon. Carson says it will feature about 15 vintage Mustangs; people can vote for the car they like the best.

But the main event of the festival every year is the Outhouse Races.

Participants make and design a custom outhouse with four walls, four wheels and one racer, who sits inside. The outhouses will be pushed or pulled toward Trade Street as quickly as possible.
