Air travel is a wondrous miracle that's led to experiences I'll treasure forever. It's because of the Wright Brothers that I've been able to bask in a Hawaiian sunrise, travel by dog sled through a neverending Arctic sunset, quaff Scotch in the Highlands, down mojitos in Havana. The list of things all of us are able to see, experience and accomplish by getting on an airplane is incalculably valuable. That being said, I still hate it. Modern air travel's long list of minor annoyances adds up into one royal pain in the ass. What's most frustrating is that so many of the inconveniences are out of our control: Officious staffers, mechanical problems, overpriced sustenance, logistical inefficiencies that have you spending hours in the wrong location. To say nothing of the unpleasantness of today's overcrowded flights. While traveling there's only a couple of things Look Alive: Fashionistas Get Game as Taxidermy Trend Lives On… And On
On Saturday, the 28-year-old fashion designer Divya Anantharaman struck a coy pose in the doorway of her kitchen. “I’m going to take the bird out of the fridge so it gets to room temperature,” she breathed, as if the “bird” were perhaps a roasted turkey, and not a pair of dead finches in a Zip-loc bag. When she’s not traveling for her day job as a shoe designer for women and tweens, Ms. Anantharaman spends her weekends doing taxidermy. She answered the door in high-waisted black shorts, oversize glasses studded with rhinestones, sparkly green stick-on fingernails and bare feet—a bit of Brooklyn, where she lives, meets Miami, where she grew up. Ms. Anantharaman, who is dark-skinned, curvy and full-lipped, is gorgeous enough to pull this garish combination off—even as she clears a model of a human skeleton from the dining room table. “Last night I had some friends over and we were going to do taxidermy stuff, but we ended up just playing with my anatomy model,” she apologized. Brand New Black Breathable Wedding Gown Dress Garment BagBy Looney Lorax I purchased this garment bag when I needed to travel across country via air with my wedding dress. In terms of protecting the garment, it performed admirably but I would recommend double bagging and delicate items as this bag would not protect from unpredictable weather for instance. Though this bag probably doesn't meet most carry-on bag size restrictions, it's close enough when folded to allow you to sneak it aboard. This breathable garment bag will prevent yellowing, preserve freshness and prolong fabric life. Also good for BRIDESMAID GOWNS and pageant gowns , as well as... White Bell-Shaped Vinyl Wedding Dress Gown Garment Bag - Extra Long (V7200W)This high quality White wedding dress garment bag is the perfect way to travel with your bridal gown. Ok, but too flimsy for travel By badazzbunny I bought this to go over the breathable garment bag for when I travel with this on a plane. I recommend if you need to travel with this, either definitely double up, (btw-- the plastic may yellow your dress if you don't put a breathable layer between this and your dress), or find something else. The garment bag is extra long (72 inches) and is bell-shaped to accommodate large wedding dresses. This extra long hanging garment bag is perfect for any... Katelyn's First Plane TripI was so happy that I had slept well (or as well as one can sleep waking up every 2-4 hours to feed K). Many times before trips, I don't sleep because I worry about forgetting We took Katelyn on her first plane trip in March (can you tell I am behind in blogging. I didn't want to be that mom with the kid who wouldn't shut up. It was also our first trip back to DC since we moved. Friday morning came, and I got up at 4:30am. I can't believe it has been almost 2 years.... |
