Prince William and Kate Middleton Turned Into Barbie Dolls for Wedding Anniversary

Prince William and Kate Middleton have got immortalized as collectible dolls. Toy giant Mattel announced on Wednesday, February 15 that the company will release a Ken and Barbie version of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in April in celebration of the royal couple's first wedding anniversary.

The limited edition of "William and Catherine Royal Wedding Giftset" has the couple's plastic replicas dressed in the garb they worn at Westminster Abbey. Kate's doll wears an ivory wedding gown with a lace torso and full skirt, and rocks an ivory veil, a sparkling tiara and matching drop earrings. Will's doll dons a replica of his scarlet Irish Guards colonel's uniform.

The pair of dolls is part of the Barbie Collector Editions, which also featured Edward and Bella from the "Twilight Saga" series. A mock wedding for special friends

"I now pronounce you special friends," a beaming "officiant" Denis Golden, dressed in a long purple muumuu, announced to the "bride" and "groom."

That brought applause from the audience, mostly dressed in cheerful red attire.

About 80 people were gathered inside Gloucester's Day by Day center Tuesday morning to celebrate the "special friendship" in a "mock wedding," between special friends Alyce Brayman, 97, and Bill Grandmont.

The couple grinned at each other and around the room.

Colleen Bullard, the Day by Day activities director, said they "wanted to do something different."

It started when she learned Alyce Brayman "eloped at 16 and never had a weeding," nor had she ever worn a wedding dress before. Brayman's son, Al Hall, on hand with his wife Rosi Hall, both of Danvers, said she actually eloped twice in her life, and that this was "the first time she got married."

Wedding: Perry-West

Ancient City Baptist Church was the setting Dec. 3 for the marriage of Joy Marie Perry and Mark Allen West. Dr. David P. Rice officiated at the 2 p.m. nuptials.

The bride is the daughter of Mary Perry, St. Augustine, and the late Paul G. Perry Jr., and the bridegroom is the son of Carolyn Sindad-Smith, St. Augustine, and Allen West, Debary. Grandparents of the bridegroom are Bruce and Marie West, Graceville.

The bride, escorted down the aisle by her brother John Perry, was given in marriage by her mother.

She wore a white floor-length strapless tulle ball gown with satin bodice accented with beaded metallic embroidery. Her headdress was a two-tier fingertip-length veil adorned with Swarovski crystals and secured by a tiara. Her bouquet, of two dozen red and white roses, included a heart-shaped locket containing a picture of her Dad.

Matron of honor was Christina Bouchard, and also attending the bride were Shannon Schmedes, Kerry Johnstone and Melissa Peters. They wore floor-length holly green satin gowns, and carried bouquets of white and red roses.
