Belline-Huskey WeddingAllison Hudson Belline and Dow Thobern Huskey III were united in marriage at Lake Rabun Pavilion, Lakemont, Georgia on September 17, 2011, with the Reverend Dr. Winston B. Charles officiating. The bride is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis A. Belline of Johns Creek, Georgia, and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard A. Belline and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Vere Macnab. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dow Thobern Huskey Jr., of Dothan, and the grandson of Mrs. Helen Weathersbee Morris of Dothan and the late Dr. Dow Thobern Huskey, Sr., and of Mrs. Wynelle Hunnicutt Hollis of Dothan and the late Mr. Russell Raye Courson. The bride was chauffeured to the wedding in a 1940 Chris Craft "Barrelback" where she was given in marriage by her father. She wore a strapless ivory silk taffeta gown with a jeweled sweetheart neckline. The gown was dropwaist and featured a chapel length train. Her veil was trimmed in crystal beading. The bride carried a large burst of exotic crimson flowers dripping with kiwi hanging amaranths. Bridal Beauty Tips & Tricks, Round 3Last night, I was lucky enough to attend an event at the brand new NYC Flagship Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue. I was on a mission to find out the latest and hottest bridal beauty trends at one of the most respected Spa's in the world. I mean, when you want experts, you go to the Red Door Spa. I was able to chat with Elizabeth Arden's National Makeup Director and celebrity makeup artist, Lindsay Ebbin and he filled me in on insider beauty tips for the bride-to-be. Ebbin said that there are a number of key things that a Bride can do to prepare for her big day: 1.) Begin a skincare regimen --Proper skincare practices are key during the months leading up to your wedding. Many things can effect your skin, PMS, the environment and stress. Ebbin says at the very least book an appointment for a massage or facial 4-5 weeks before you walk down the aisle. 2.) Know Your Artist --I always joke that the longest relationship I've had is with my hair stylist. She knows me better than I know myself, sometimes. And I have the utmost trust and faith in her that she won't let me walk out her door looking horrible. The same trust and faith should be applied to your makeup artist. Ebbin was adamant about scheduling a trial hair and makeup session approximately 3-4 months before your wedding. "This will increase your confidence in your artist/stylist and decrease any insecurities you may have," Ebbin said. Penguin Plunge attracts spectators to Robinwood LakeIn an effort to raise money for a local nonprofit, 19 people jumped into the muddy waters of Robinwood Lake at noon on Saturday. The Penguin Plunge event -- benefitting the Gaston County nonprofit First Things First -- raised a little more than $4,000 and attracted a crowd of about 100 people. Some jumpers wore costumes as they were rowed in an inflatable raft to deeper parts of the lake. Click here to view slideshow of pictures Each jumper raised a minimum of $150 to “take a plunge for marriage.” First Things First of Gaston County plans to use the money raised to offer marriage enrichment programs and pre-marital counseling classes. Dustin and Caroline Letts of Gastonia, who have been married for 17 years, dressed as a bride and groom to jump off the inflated raft floating in the waters of the lake. Caroline wore a white wedding gown with veil and Dustin wore a black suit with red bow tie. Miss Queen City 2012 Mya Kayler emceed the event, describing the participants before they leaped into the lake.
